Primitiva: contemporary ceramic graffiti
Since the time of the rock carvings, man has had the need to impress his essence in the material and in the places around him with signs, colors, symbols, stories. Primitiva is born from the same need, a new collection of decorated tiles by Ceramica Bardelli in collaboration with Studiopepe.
The collection, available in 25x25cm format, rectified, is characterized by a decoration with a strong visual impact where the color blends with the materiality of the sign. The color palette, designed to dialogue perfectly with Pittorica's range of solid colors, has warm earthy tones, a mat finish and a deliberately not perfect color saturation.
The primordial and essential decorations are imprinted on the background colors and give the Pittorica colors different levels of materiality in a single tile: Primitiva is chalky in the solid base colors and slightly rough to the touch in the decorations.
Studiopepe is a design agency founded in Milan in 2006 by Arianna Lelli Mami and Chiara Di Pinto. Studiopepe focuses on design and research with a multidisciplinary approach, offering creative consulting services. The strenght of Studiopepe is drawing on a stratified, eclectic design idiom. The creative duo manages to combine poetic vision and design rigor. Studiopepe’s design projects are known for their bold iconographic identity based on experimentation, constant study of colours and materials and cross-contamination among different contemporary idioms to achieve a special result reflecting each client’s individuality.
